Dear Management,

I am writing for help to resolve an issue that I have been unable to resolve through my local Stanley Steamer branch. I had my carpets and 4 area rugs cleaned on 4/11/2015. When I spoke with the customer service representative I was quoted $104.00 for the two rooms and was told that the technician would measure the rugs and then give me a quote for them.

Well when the technician arrived he told me there is an automatic $150.00 charge when they have to bring the equipment out due to me living on the 6th floor. I said that would be fine due to my expectation that my entire bill would be over $200.00 still making me eligible for the discount per my conversation with the customer service representative.

When I called and asked to speak with a supervisor, I was told to call the toll free number and make a complaint with the customer service representative. When I spoke with her she said she had to put in a note for the supervisor to call me. So I told her my complaint and stated that I just wanted the discount I was promised. She said she would pass this information along and someone should be in touch with me with-in 2 days.

I called again on 4/17/2015 just to check the status of my complaint. I was told that the supervisor would be contacting me shortly. He contacted me the next day and apologized for the delay. I proceeded to tell him my issue, and I wanted to make clear that I only wanted the discount I was promised. He asked for me to text him a picture of my receipt because his records showed that I only paid $185.00 for the services. I told that is what I should have been with the discount but assured him that I paid $230.00 and I texted him the proof. I am still waiting to hear from him.

Normally I would have just swept this under the rug as a lost, giving the technicians this as a tip, but first of all the equipment kept malfunctioning, it took them almost an hour to get the machine started. I know for a fact that none of the stains I complained about were pre-treated as promised. As the technician pulled the machine he knocked over my chair twice and never bothered to apologize or pick it up off the floor, now I have a broken cap on the back of that chair. They literally did a rush job on my condo it took them longer to set up the equipment that it took to clean 2 bedrooms and 4 area rugs, and I did not see any type of stain treatment although he told me that he was unable to remove the stains.

After they wet my carpets and 4 area rugs (because there was no cleaning), the technician then walked along the wet area rugs leaving foot prints, in an attempt to provide measurements (which were wrong on 2 of the rugs), then they threw the smaller area rugs over a rail on the balcony, to dry and one fell to the ground getting yet another stain.

Once the job was done the technician rolled this machine over my clean runner leaving a tire track that is still partially visible after 2 more cleaning attempts on my part. Once they left, we noticed that the carpet in the bedrooms were so wet they made squishy noises we then proceeded to make a trail of towels in an attempt to soak some of the water up. After looking at my carpets closely, I noticed that they were not clean at all.

The very next day I had to call my uncle who lives almost 20 miles away to let me borrow his carpet cleaner I used a little Woolite and fabric softener (because my condo smelled like mildew) to re-clean my carpets and 2 of the area rugs the other two I will have to have professionally done because of the sensitive material. All of the stains came out except part of the tire mark from that machine.

I normally use a carpet cleaning service that is ran by a couple and they only have 3 technicians, but the work is superb and they physically come out and look at the areas to be cleaned and tell you the exact treatments that would be used showing you the containers the quote is given to you in writing and it does not change once the technician notices that you live in a nice neighborhood. I only used Stanley Steemer because I wanted to have a surprise party for my mother the next day and the people I would normally go to were booked up.

Needless to say I had to move the party to another relatives house after spending most of Sunday morning redoing my carpets and rugs. In all fairness giving me the discount I was promised is NOTHING compared to what I endured due this horrible service.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $230.

Stanley Steemer Pros: When they left my condo.

Stanley Steemer Cons: Gave quote after work was done.
