In response to the $99.00 (plus tax) Stanley Steemer carpet cleaning "SPECIAL" on TV, I called and scheduled for the $99.00 (plus tax) 3 rooms carpet cleaning "SPECIAL". I made it very clear that all I want cleaned is 3 rooms.

The Stanley Steemer person who answered the phone tried to upsell me by offering "extras" such as deodorizing

the carpets. I very clearly said that this is the first time I was using their carpet cleaning service and that all I wanted cleaned were 3 rooms for their advertised price of $99.00 and if I was happy with their service, I'll consider the other options next time. Then, I was quoted the price of $107.00 (tax included). I said fine and schedule my carpets for cleaning.

The cleaning crew of two arrived on time, were courteous and started cleaning the carpets. I stayed out of their way to let them do the job. It didn't take long and then I was presented a bill for $166.12. I was naturally upset but I couldn't blame the cleaning crew because they were told to clean as they did which included the extra cost of deodorizing the carpets which I didn't order.

So I went ahead and paid the $166.00. I learned a lesson and this would not happen again because I will never use Stanley Steemer ever again.

I also didn't realize that they were deodorizing the carpets because I stayed out of their way while cleaning. I went outside with my dog.

Reason of review: Pricing issue.

Monetary Loss: $59.

Preferred solution: I want an apology and a refund of the cost of deodorizing the carpets which I didn't order. .

Stanley Steemer Pros: Timely service.

Sweetheart, I wasn't born yesterday. I returned home to the good U.

S. of A, from *** with many of my generations many, many moons ago. In the *** we went through, we learned many, many lessons and one of them is to try very hard NOT to solve a problem with an adversarial approach. Most of the time there's always more than one way to solve a problem.

I called the 800 number for Stanley Steemer, and after explaining my complaint in non angry terms, I was offered and accepted an apology and a gift certificate for the amount in question. Sure, I would have preferred a refund, but I decided to give Stanley Steemer another chance, after all we all make mistakes.

Thanks for your comments, I am having my morning coffee right now and happy to be quite healthy and alive! Take care.
