They should have a recovery tank and not dump any water at all in any yard as the run off may pollute the enviroment.
After reading other complaints about Stanley Steemer, I am not at all surprised. Other complaints involved their specials.
If you go to their web site there is not any area for complaints. You are only able to contact the home office by mail.
It would seem Stanly Steemer does not care about consumer complaints. 12928b0

1. Written by Unbelievable on February 4, 2012 from portsmouth, virginia, US My neighbor just had his carpets cleaned by Stanley Steemer. The Stanley Steemer rug cleaner roled out a hose from the van to my property. I told him to move it. I seen the inside of my neighbors home. I do not want any of that waste comming onto my property. I do not care what kind of filtration ststem they have. So I left and some time later I smelled sewage and chemical cleaner. Next to my fence and seeping into my property was all the waste water from the van. I yelled to the rug cleaner to look at what he did after I told him I do not want any waste coming onto my property. The rug guy did not even appologize. I have dogs and a family. I am not putting up with it. More to follow, I am going to my local magistrate then file a lawsuit.
2. Written by crpt tech 20 yrs on August 22, 2011 from -, -, US The Impeller may have gone out and the machine wasnt dumping properly. If this happens the machine will cut off, sometimes you have to dump the water so you can finish the job and then have it repaired. Its happened to me lots of times. There is nothing in the water that will harm any pet or plants, everything is biodegradable.
3. Written by stanley steemer employee on August 12, 2011 from newark, new jersey, US working for this company for a year now i can see this happening. That is nothing but dirty water and some envirment friendly diluted products. they are supposed to run a line to the customers toilet to dump the water. If you get the right crew stanley steemer is a wonderful company, either a hit or miss
4. Written by Carpet Expert on April 6, 2011 from valparaiso, indiana, US I have been cleaning my own carpet for decades, and the amount of cleaning chemicals in the water should be very minimal. It usually goes down the commode. It is truly amazing how few people, even the so called experts, really know how to clean residential carpet. If you (or they) aren't getting clear rinse water then you still have dirty carpet. RugDr units are sufficient for most carpets, and I've found it necessary to rinse heavy traffic areas 5 to 7 times before getting satisfactory results. Rinse defined as only using (hot) water in the tank - after applying cleaning solution directly to the carpet using a pump-up pressure tank.
5. Written by Cab on October 8, 2010 from enterprise, alabama, US I work for another company, and we do infact have tanks that hold overflow in our vans, it seems irresponsible to me to dump waste onto someones property.
6. Written by former employee on September 2, 2010 from -, -, US I worked at the company for 5 years, working my way up. some crews are phenomenal, some do tend to lack on certain things. But the one thing they always do is take care of the customer. they always ask what you prefer them to do for instance, "would you like us to dispose of the excess water in the lawn after it runs through a series of filters and softeners. or would u like us to attach a toilet adapter and remove the water that way"as for customers. You cannot expect us to have a overflow tank that holds over 100 gals of water, it wouldnt even fit in the van! there ARE NO CHEMICALS which will destroy your lawn. quit being inconsiderate and treating CONTRACTORS like SLAVES. now if i was pouring oil, natural gas, or something of that nature in your lawn, fine, complain. but you are being utterly ridiculous. you are the reason i quit, the heart attack due to stress from people like you forced me into numerous doctor visits. get off your high horse, and find a job in customer service, maybe itll give you a form of respect for the stuff we put up with every day.
7. Written by Bad stuff on April 23, 2010 from fayetteville, arkansas, US It's not just the dirty water coming out of the carpet that gets dumped out. There are all kinds of chemicals in that stuff that could do some real damage to not just the plants in the area, but any animals or children that come in contact with it. Using a "steam cleaner" of any kind is probably a bad idea. Dumping the water out anywhere is definitely a bad idea.
8. Written by Tara on December 5, 2009 from norfolk, virginia, US To be honest if you actully did your homework as opposed to whining and complaining about something as simple as dirty water being put in your yard. I mean get over it. That dirty water is stuff coming out of YOUR carpet so if your that worried about it, I would hate to see the condition your house is in cause that is where your main problem is.
